How to use the app

Add your source

Paste text, upload a PDF or document, or take a photo of a page. Trim it or exclude pages you don't need.

Pick a mode (quiz or solve past papers), a format, depth and question count. The AI extracts questions line by line.

Feature guide, section by section

1. Adding your source

  • Paste text directly, upload a document (PDF, Word, images and more — not just PDF), or photograph a page with the Photo tab.
  • Before uploading, use the Trim & exclude pages card above the upload area to keep only the pages you want.
  • The source is cleaned automatically — fix any remaining mistakes yourself with the built-in AI corrector.
  • Listen to the corrected source with the narration button to hear exactly what will be used.

2. Choosing mode, format and depth

  • Quiz mode builds new questions from your notes; Solve mode detects exam papers and returns the original questions with full worked solutions.
  • Pick a format: multiple choice, true/false, fill in the blank, short answer, long answer — or Exam mix, which blends all of them.
  • Depth controls how thoroughly the source is covered; Exhaustive skips nothing.
  • Every generation is different — refreshing produces new questions from the same source.

3. Batches and background generation

  • You start on the first 10 questions immediately; the rest generate in the background in batches of 10.
  • A pop-up tells you each time a new batch is ready, and numbered batch buttons let you jump between them.
  • You can stop generation at any time — you'll be asked to confirm, and completed batches are kept.
  • Every completed batch is saved to your private question bank for reuse in future exams.

4. Marking and strictness

  • Every answer gets its own score badge: full marks (1/1), partial (0.5/1) or none (0/1).
  • Marking understands intent — misspellings, synonyms, acronyms and reworded answers that make sense are accepted.
  • After submitting, choose your marking strictness: Generous, Balanced or Strict. The batch is re-marked instantly and your choice is remembered.
  • See your answer side by side with the source answer, with highlighting on exactly where they differ.
  • Disagree with a mark? Use the feedback button on any question to flag it for review.

5. Scientific calculator input

  • For maths questions, use the on-screen scientific calculator pad to enter powers, roots, fractions and symbols.
  • Show or hide the pad per question, and type freely alongside it.

6. Photo scanning (OCR)

  • Photograph handwritten or printed pages — including mathematical solutions — and they're transcribed with high accuracy.
  • Maths is converted to clean, readable notation that works in questions and solutions.
  • You can proofread and correct the transcription before generating.

7. Narration

  • Listen to the corrected source text before generating an exam.
  • After submitting, listen to your batch results read aloud: your score, then each question with your answer, the source answer and your marks.
  • Long passages are read in parts with a counter, and you can stop at any time.

8. Illustrations

  • Generate a picture for any question or answer to make concepts easier to remember.
  • Illustrations are created on demand and require you to be signed in.

9. PDF export

  • Export any exam as a professional PDF with the Brainy Bites logo, borders, headings and score summary.
  • Works for both quizzes and solved papers with full worked solutions.

10. Tutor dashboard

  • Create your own named question sets with your own answers — typed or uploaded.
  • Supports plain Q/A pairs and multiple choice with A) B) C) D) options.
  • Delete single questions or whole sets, and send any set straight to the generator with 'Use in an exam' — your questions are reused before new ones are created.
  • Everything you save is private to your account.

11. Study tools

  • The Study page offers AI research on any topic and a multilingual dictionary.
  • Lookups are cached, so repeated searches are instant.
  • Daily lookup limits depend on your package.

12. Free trial and packages

  • Start a 3-day free trial of Basic, Pro or Advanced — no payment details, nothing charged, with 5 free batches.
  • Packages differ in how many papers, pages and daily lookups you get.
  • Manage your data anytime in Settings: export your data as JSON, or clear quiz, study and feedback history selectively.
  • The Privacy, Terms and Account deletion pages explain exactly how your data is handled.

For law practitioners

Lawyers, judges and advocates can upload a testimonial, evidence statement or case file. Brainy Bites extracts the key questions you should ask yourself — angles to probe, contradictions to test, and the facts you must verify before walking into court.

Do's

  • Upload clear, readable PDFs (text-based, not blurry scans).
  • Use short, focused sources for crisp questions; long books for exhaustive depth.
  • Review explanations — they cite the exact source line.
  • Switch to Exhaustive depth when nothing should be skipped (e.g. exams, compliance).

Don'ts

  • Don't upload copyrighted material you don't have rights to use.
  • Don't rely solely on AI-generated quizzes for high-stakes certifications without expert review.
  • Don't upload personally identifiable information you wouldn't share with a cloud AI service.
  • Don't refresh the browser mid-generation — it cancels the request.
